Chevrolet – Liverpool FC Partnership

Chevrolet today announced that the brand is entering a four year contract to be the Official Automotive Partner for Liverpool FC. The partnership runs until the end of the 2015/2016 Barclays Premier League campaign, and will see brand visibility at the home ground, Anfield, digital and print publications, and player appearances for commercial events. Chevrolet will also be an official sponsor the the LFC Pre-season Tour 2012.

Ian Ayre, the Managing Director of Liverpool FC, said “Much like our Club, Chevrolet has a long, rich history with a growing, global brand and this landmark partnership once again demonstrates the value of Liverpool’s international appeal.

“Partnerships with blue chip brands like Chevy will help ensure the long-term growth and success of our Club, both on-and-off the pitch. We look forward to working closely with Chevy to help reach and engage our supporters, who are among the most passionate and educated fans in the world.”

I noted recently about our kit sponsorship with the American brand, “Warrior”, and now Chevrolet have come on board. Fenway Sports Group have received a lot of stick from fans since they took over, but in my opinion, the way they’ve handled the club has been fantastic, especially the marketing side of things. The brand is growing, and all these new endorsements prove it. It won’t be long before we’re back where we belong, at the top.

Warrior Sports – Liverpool FC

As you all know by now, I’m a huge Liverpool FC fan, and as it’s summer, I’ve been a little more relaxed about my posts. All that will change in September, of course!

The brand, Warrior, is the new kid on the block in the footballing world, but they’ve actually been around since 1992. Seeing a gap in the market, Dave Morrow started Warrior as a means of getting the equipment he thought the sport was lacking, and the brand quickly grew. Dave’s progress with the company was apparent, and in 2004, Warrior was bought by New Balance. They then moved into Ice Hockey a year later.

In April of this year, Warrior partnered exclusively with my beloved Liverpool, bringing with it the most expensive kit sponsorship in English football at £25m a year for 6 years, surpassing Manchester United’s current deal with Nike by two million and doubling Liverpool’s previous sponsorship with Adidas. Warrior mean business, or as they would put it, “We Come Not To Play”.

The resulting home kit was released on the 1st June, and my god it’s amazing. In fact, I loved it so much, I went out and bought the whole thing. Something I haven’t done since I was around 8 or so! “What the heck”, I thought, I play a lot of sport.


It is a thing of beauty, though. A true throwback in terms of its style. But this isn’t a fashion blog.

The RedmenTV is “Uncensored Liverpool FC Television”, each week they humour us with numerous broadcasts featuring match analysis, transfer speculations, real fan opinions snatched from social media sites, and interviews.

This week they really spoiled me.

An interview with their Head of Product Marketing, Kenny McCallum, and they’ve let me snatch it for my blog.

Can you imagine how excited I was? Probably not.

The following interview gives you an incredible insight to the manufacturers side of designing the kit. It doesn’t matter if you don’t support Liverpool, if you find marketing/advertising/branding of interest then this video is for you.

Redemption – FA Cup Final 2012

Tomorrow, is the most important game of Liverpool Football Club’s 2011/2012 season. The Carling Cup was a nice addition, pulling us level with United’s trophy cabinet, and bringing us the first piece of silverware since 2006, but not only will securing the FA Cup take us ahead of United, but it’s 90 minutes for redemption.

There’s no denying it – our season has been awful. We were originally aiming for a top 4 spot of the table and into the Champions League, as far as I can tell, we’ve been lucky to stay in the top half.

Call it bad luck, call it bad finishing. There’s no excusing the lack of passion from half the players in the squad. In my opinion, that’s why so many fans are on their backs, and on Kenny’s back. But claiming a lack of passion for Liverpool Football Club on Kenny’s behalf is madness, we all know that. Continue reading

1 Hour With Lucas Leiva @LFC @LucasLeiva87 #TweetLucas

I am an avid Liverpool supporter. Sometimes I like to walk around Manchester with my LFC shirt on to provoke reaction. Stupid, I know, but what can I say? I’m incredibly proud of my team, even in light recent heartache that is, the league table.

You can imagine I obviously follow @LFC, because, as a football teams twitter account is expected to do, it gives us, the fans, daily news on our team. But @LFC like to go the extra mile, proof of this is that they recently won a Shorty Award in the #sportsteam category. You might not know what a Shorty Award is, but when you consider the list of winners; NASA (#government), Selena Gomez(#actress), Jonas Brothers (#band – *shudder*), Justin Bieber (#celebrity), you begin to realise how global these awards are, making @LFC’s victory a somewhat, prestigious accolade, especially when you take into account the colossal following and support which other Football teams such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man United and American Football teams have.

Back to the “extra mile”. Last week they had our old Spanish wonderkid Luis Garcia doing a Q&A, but this week, they had our new Brazilian wonderkid, Lucas Leiva, on hand – or should I say computer – to answer our questions.

Lucas is currently recovering from a season ending injury, which he picked up facing Chelsea in the Carling Cup quarter final back in November. We went on to win, so it wasn’t in vain, but that’s not to say our season hasn’t taken a major hit from it.
